| WEF express grief over increase in crime against women | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 3 Expressing grief concern over the rise of crime and harassment against the women in state, the Women Empowerment Forum (WEF) said that the recent case of crime against the women in state have made women un-safe in the state. Addressing a press conference here today, Anuradha Goswami, president of the WEF said that the crime and harassment against the women is increasing increases day by day in the state and in recent months and particularly in the month of October more incidents of torture and cruelty has been registered. Lambasting the state govt. she stated that govt. is showing no concern over the safeguard of women and women rights in the state, which has been cleared from the headless Women Commission (WC) in the state since 2002 as WC has constituted in year 2000 for safeguard the interest of women. Goswami also stressed to create awareness among the society about the crime against women especially in rural areas and informed Forum will organize seminar, conferences, and workshops in future. Leaders of the forum appealed to the Chief Minister of the state to appoint the proper body of WC so that women rights must be safeguard and women issues could be minimized. Others who were present included Sachin Bhagat, Arvind, Madhu, Pramila and Priyanka. |
