| Govt committed to provide corruption free, responsive administration: Chief Secretary | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Nov 3 Chief Secretary Mr. B.R. Kundal has called upon the officers to work with more vigour, devotion and enthusiasm to minimize the problems of the people especially during the ensuing winter. Addressing a maiden meeting of high level officers after assuming the charge as Chief Secretary here in summer capital today, Mr. Kundal said that people have high expectations from the administration, as such the officers should rise to the occasion and come up to their expectations. Reviewing winter stocking and other essential services in the valley, the Chief Secretary said that the divisional administration should mobilize all its agencies to ensure adequate and timely availability of essentials, water supply, electricity, transport besides taking advance measures for possible snow clearance from the roads in the event of snowfall. The Chief Engineer Mechanical was asked to keep the snow clearance machines in a state of readiness to meet any eventuality arising due to snowfall. The meeting among others was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr. Mehboob Iqbal, IGP Kashmir Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Head of departments, Chief Engineers of various disciplines and other high ranking officers. The Chief Secretary, reiterating the resolve of the government to weed out corruption at all levels of administration said that any official found indulged in malpractices would not be spared. Taking stock of developmental scenario, Mr. Kundal under scored the need for time bound completion of various ongoing development projects saying that any sluggishness on the part of executing agencies would be taken serious note of. For this purpose, he said, constant monitoring is required by the Divisional administration. The function of SKIMS, Medical College and other departments particularly R&B, PHE, PDD, Health, Municipal Corporation, Local Bodies, Food and Supply also came up for discussion and numerous decisions were taken to further streamline their working. Welcoming the Chief Secretary, the Divisional Commissioner gave a resume of all developmental activities under execution in the valley. He informed that adequate stocks of food grains and other essentials have been made to cater to the requirement of people during winter months. He apprised the Chief Secretary about the power scenario in the valley and assured that every effort is being made to tackle any problem on this account. He said that the divisional administration is fully geared to meet winter challenges. The Divisional Commissioner assured the Chief Secretary on behalf of all divisional officers of full cooperation in curbing the menace of corruption and timely completion of development projects. |
