| DYSS organizes women sports meet | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 3 As part of the women sports festival, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council organised day long competitions involving women folk of village Sohal at the grounds of High School Sohal, 13 kilometers from Akhnoor today. Besides the school students from Middle School, Pangari and Sohal as also Oriental Academy Sohal and High School Sohal, local women from Embroidery and Stiching Centre Sohal also took part. Divided into different teams, these women took part in kabaddi, kho-kho, tug of war and Athletics event of Shot Put. In kabaddi final, High School Sohal defeated Middle School Sohal whereas the kho-kho trophy went to Middle School Sohal, who beat High School Sohal. The tug of war title was clinched by Embroidery and Stiching Centre, who beat the team comprised of local women. In Shot Put, Nisha Sharma bagged the first prize while Neena Devi and Sapna Sharma shared second and third place respectively. The Headmaster of High School Sohal, Som Nath Sharma was chief guest in the prize distribution function. A number of prominent citizens of the village as also staff members and officials were among those others present. Meanwhile, according to the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu Jai Raj there will be Rural Sports events tomorrow at village Nararriwala in Akhnoor. It will be followed by the women sports festival at village Dhrore in Samba, he added. |
