| Jawans, wives get together to battle stress | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 4 The wives of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans are being roped in to help their husbands to deal with stress while on duty. Rajni Bala, and other women like her are learning how to manage their domestic affairs more efficiently thus reducing the pressure on their spouses. "We are teaching them how to manage finances, deal with health, parents. By educating these ladies they will be able to take care of many minor problems which they are otherwise projecting to their husbands which can deal on their own they report it to their husbands and perturb them,” says Additional DIG, CRPF, Y K Mathur The new initiative is called ‘Sanjeevani’, and comes of increasing concerns over incidents of fragging and suicides among the armed forces. This year alone CRPF has seen 37 suicides and two cases of fragging. An internal study blames domestic problems as the main triggering factor. "Where my husband is posted like in Chattisgrah, he has no phone facility. For a month we can t get in touch. He is in jungles for a week. There is work stress and then there are domestic problems which can’t be even communicated,” says Rajni Bala. The new initiative brings together jawans and their wives for five days of relaxation and couselling. And the effort is being widely appreciated. "We never get a chance to spend time with our family. Now with this we will be with them and at least get to know what’s happening,” says Ajay Rathore of the 43 Battalion CRPF. |
