| Tara Chand for speeding up lift irrigation scheme | | | Early Times Reporter Khour | Nov 4 Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Tara Chand today inspected the construction work of Lift Irrigation project being completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.24 crore under NABARD at Bardoh in Khour block . President Municipal Committee Khour Om Parkash Sharma, Sarpanch Bardoh Babu Ram, Working President Congress Suram Singh and other senior engineers and officers of PDD, RDD, I&FC, Education, Social Welfare and PHE departments accompanied the Speaker. Addressing the gathering at Panjtoot, Speaker said that on the completion of Lift Irrigation, about 70,000 population of Manna, Bardoh, Panjtoot, Kachrial and its adjoining villages would be benefited. He asked engineers of I&FC to complete it before March 2008 so that people do not face any inconvenience. To deal with water scarcity problems, he informed that the Azad led government has providing sufficient funds in PHE sector for construction of tube wells and hand pumps. Large number of deputations and individuals met the Speaker and projected problems being faced by them in their respective villages including blacktopping of Manna to Bardoh road, maintenance of bunds along canal, construction of Chapprial-Bardoh road, repair of two hand pumps of Bardoh village, installation of new transformer at Manna village, Julla bridge Pakhad to Bardoh, up-gradation of Government Middle School Bardoh, Elementary Education Guarantee Scheme converted into Primary Schools, Veterinary hospital at Bardoh, changing of damaged water supply pipes, construction of interior lanes and drains of Bardoh and Panjtoot villages, release of Rs. 25000/ as first installment for construction of homes at Gurha Jagir. Responding to the demands, Speaker asked the R&B engineers to immediately start blacktopping of Manna-Bardoh road so that the villagers do not face any inconvenience. He also issued instructions to engineers for construction of interior lanes and drains of Bardoh and Panjtoot villages for the benefit of all sections of the society. To augment power supply in Manna village, he asked the PDD authorities to install new transformer. Informing that construction work of Chapprial-Bardoh link road would be taken up shortly. He said that on the construction of said road, road connectivity to both the villages would be improved. He asked the revenue authorities to prepare the cheques amounting to Rs. 25000/- as first installment so that the amount could be disbursed among the displaced families of 1999 for the construction of houses at Gurha Jagir village. On the demand for installation of new electric poles at Bardoh, he asked the PDD authorities to erect the 20 poles in the remaining villages of Bardoh for the benefit of general masses. Later, Speaker also distributed 14 cheques amounting Rs. 74000 among the border migrants of Panjtoot village for tractorisation of de-mined land which was occupied by army during Kargil conflict in 1999. |
