| N M Samuel takes command of AF Stn Udhampur | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 5 Group Captain Nicodemus Manohar Samuel took over the command of Air Force Station Udhampur today from Group Captain G Amar Babu. A ceremonial parade was carried out on the occasion of handing taking over of command. Giving details Defence spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that Group Captain Nicodemus Manohar Samuel, VrC was commissioned in the Indian Air Force on June 1984. He has flown over 4500 hours on various helicopters and trainer aircrafts in the Indian Air Force. A Qualified Flying Instructor has served as a Flying Instructor at the Basic Flying Training School (BFTS). He is a graduate of the Air Force Test Pilot School (AFTPS) and has also served as an Experimental Test Pilot and there after as a Test Flying Instructor at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment, Bangalore, Group Captain Samuel took active part in operation Pawan as part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka in 1988-90 and was awarded the Vir Chakra for gallantry in 1989. He has also flown helicopters as part of the Indian Air Force team in two consecutive Indian expenditure to Antarctica. Goswami added. He said that Group Captain Nicodemus Manohar Samuel commanded in Mi-8 helicopter unit in the North East in 2001-2003 and another Mi-8 unit as part of United Nation peace keeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2005. |
