| FONL to intensify stir against ‘Roshni’ | | Lease holders express gratitude towards leaders extending support | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 5 Forum of Lease Holders / Occupants of Nazool / Government land (FONL) has expressed thanks to some prominent political leaders belonging to various parties who have assured them of support in their movement against arbitrary, exorbitant and irrational rates fixed by the authorities in conferring the ownership rights on the lease holders and occupants of government lands, under the Roshni Act. A general meeting of the aggrieved parties under the provision and implementation of the Act held here today and attended by a hundred lease holders, was informed by the convener of the forum Inderjeet Khajuria that the members of the executive committee of the forum have already called on Mangat Ran Sharma, Senior Congress leader and Minister for Health and Medical Education, Janak Raj Gupta Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Narinder Singh Jamwal Mayor JMC, Yogesh Sawhney MLA and Harminder Singh Micky MLC, all belonging to the Congress party. They have assured that they would convey their concern as well as advocate their case before the Chief Minister. Similarly the NC leaders including provincial President and former minister Ajay Sadhotra, MLCs T S Wazir and Devender Raina, on whom the deputation had called have assured of their fullest support and active participation in any movement launched by the aggrieved parties to get the justice. The other leaders who have pledged support to FONL include Prof Virender Gupta President JSM (P), Rampal Sharma, President Dogra Liberation Front and Anan Sharma President Kranti Dal. The forum leaders who had also called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudanshu Pandey waere assured that he would convey their concern to the higher authorities in the government. It was resolved in the general body meeting of the aggrieved parties that a regular agitation would be launched from November 12, incase the government did not withdraw the notices issued to them and gives assurance to reconsider the exorbitant rates fixed. The agitation program will take the form of protest demonstrations and torch light processions, to start with. Simultaneously legal proceedings will be initiated to seek stay against the notices issued to the concerned parties as well as to seek justice in the form of setting aside by the court of the government action in the matter, the meeting resolved.
