| Poonam wins sprint in Samba women sports | | | Early Times Reporter
JAMMU | Nov 5:
Poonam Rajput of Middle School Taloor won the sprint while Sushma of Navodya Vidyalya Dhalote bagged first place in 200 mts race in the women sports festival that took place at Dhalote in district Samba today.
In kabaddi, the winners’ trophy was bagged by Navodya Vidyalaya School Dhalote who beat Chandail Memorial School Nud 12-11 in a close contest. In a preliminary round match, Chandail Memorial School Nud outplayed Government Middle School Taloor 21-15.
The kho-kho title was claimed by NV School Dhalote who beat Government Middle School Taloor 14-8 in the final.
In athletics 100 mts race, Poonam Rajput of Middle School Taloor bagged first place, followed by Bandana Rajput and Sheetal of CMS Nud at second and third position respectively. In 200 mts race, Sushma of NV School Dhalote clinched first position while Pooja and Bandana of Middle School Taloor finished second and third respectively.
Among other participating schools were Modern Music Institution Sumb and Shanti Niketan Academy Taloor also participated in the competitions.
Sarpanch of the village, Shamsher Singh was chief guest in the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners of different events.
Meanwhile, the rural sports competition shall be held tomorrow at Badhori Stadium.
Competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council and District Sports Advisory Board. |
