| Sectt reopens to festive note | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 5 Amidst a failed bandh call from some obscure organizations, the biennial opening of the civil secretariat went off here today in a festive mode. Hurricane lamps studded VIP vehicles made a beeline to the civil secretariat in the morning through various roads especially spruced up and decorated for the occasion. Heavy security bandobust was seen across the city with hundreds of cops and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary CRPF dotting the roads. The bandh call given a couple of small outfits and a political party failed to have any effect in part of the city as the routine life rolled out in the morning. A ceremonial function at the Civil Secretariat marked the occasion at which Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was given a rousing reception. Azad flew in from Delhi this morning on way back after performing Umrah and arrived at the Civil Secretariat at 9. 30 A. M. sharp where he was received by his ministerial colleagues, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and others. The Chief Minister inspected the guard of honour presented by a contingent of State police. The Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Secretary, B.R. Kundal, Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Anil Goswami and Principal Secretary, General Administration, K. A. Ganai, took a round of various departments and clerical halls and interacted with the employees. He also visited office chamber of several ministers. Later, the Chief Minister signed several files and issued instructions on various matters regarding the affairs of the State. The ministers and senior officers called on the Chief Minister and felicitated him on performing Umrah. |
