| Narrow escape for MAM (E) in cricket | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 6 Government MAM (Evening) College prevailed upon GGM Science College beating latter by four runs to enter the semi-finals of ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at University grounds, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, MAM College lost all their wickets for 199 runs in 38.5 over of the 40 over match. In reply, Science College failed to reach the required mark and exhausted their allotted quota of 40 over for 195 runs with one wicket in hand. Rohit Sharma played brilliant innings of 32 runs including one six and five fours while Vikas Bawa and Tulsi Ram contributed 23 and 20 runs respectively. Yaseer Mohammed and Pawan added valuable 17 and 14 runs respectively. From Science College, Sahil Malhotra remained the most successful bowler with five for 48 in 7.5 over while Sumit Magotra (3) and Ankit (2) were other wicket takers. Later chasing the target, Science College could not sum up the game in their favour despite good batting by Vishal and Manjeet Kumar and lost the match by a narrow margin of four runs. While Vishal Khajuria contributed 40 runs, Manjeet added 31 and Sumit 21. Pawan bowled excellent spell for MAM with three for 29 in eight overs. Rohit Sharma bagged one for 52 in eight overs. Later, Pawan was adjudged man of the match for his tight bowling, especially in the later stages of the match. He was presented the man of the match trophy by Dr Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director of GGM Science College. |
