| "Launch real movement to rediscover culture in J&K | | BGSBU to provide platform for cultural revival: Nazki | | Rajouri, July 02 : Renowned writer and thinker, Professor Ayaz Rasool Nazki has called on the people of the state to launch real movement to rediscover culture, languages, vast and rich literary tradition of the state. He said that Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University will respond positively if people will come forward for cultural renaissance.
Registrar of BGSB University, Rajouri, Prof. Nazki told that due to political uncertainty in the state, neglected to do something for enrichment of culture and languages of the state that needs to be rediscovered. He said that people must take all steps for development of their mother tongue. "When an average Kashmiri is unconcerned about his own cultural heritage, we cannot expect the government to do it. Not those successive governments are not to be blame for the state of neglect in which our languages find themselves today, primary responsibility lies with the people". He added that unless people exert, nothing can happen in this regard. For this, all of us have to come forward.
About role of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University , Rajouri for cultural
renaissance, Nazki said that University doors are open for those interested who want to contribute for culture. There is no dearth of talent in the state but it requires platform, he said that Baba Ghulam Shah University will definitely provide platform for all interested. He added that cultural academy, radio, print media and universities should come together to devise a strategy for enhancement of culture related activities.
When asked about pace of work of J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages in enriching culture, Nazki said that the Academy that had produced stalwarts like Yousaf Taing, Prof. JL Koul, Ram Nath Shastri and writer like Ali Jawad Zaidi could not keep pace with changing times when modernization was required but now with the appointment of Rafiq Masoodi as secretary, hopes are there for a change. He added that with Ghulam Nabi Azad, chief minister of the state as its president, a fresh look at the mandate of the academy is expected with a view to modernize the concept behind the existence of this prestigious institution.
