| PM asks youth to work for nation's overall progress | | Addresses group of youths from J-K | | New Delhi, Aug 21: Observing that even after 59 years of country's independence several tasks still remained to be accomplished, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today asked the youth to work unitedly for the nation's overall progress.
Interacting with a group of youths from Jammu and Kashmir at his residence, Singh advocated that exchange of views among people from different states would ensure strengthening of the unity of the country and speed up all-round development.
The Prime Minister told the group, which would travel across the country, that they should enlighten the people with the problems faced by them in Jammu and Kashmir and at the same time take the opportunity to understand the problems faced by other states.
"This, I understand, will strengthen the fabric of communal harmony and give a filip to the country's unity in diversity," he said.
Outlining the programme for the youth, Singh asked them to join hands to eradicate the menace of poverty and illiteracy. "We achieved independence 59 years back, lot has been done but lot more needs to be done and for this people especially the youth need a greater interaction," the Prime |
