| Markets wore a new look to mark Deepawali festivity | | | Ajay Meenia Jammu | Nov 6 Jammu bazaars wore a new festive look to mark the ongoing festivity of the festival of lights- the Deepawali. Decorated shops and markets have been decorated aptly with buntings and the special illumination to be a part of the ongoing festivity. Rippling crowd of men, women and children is witnessed in every market on the shopping spree and to purchase the gifts including toys, sweets and decorative stuffs but all seemed to look for the best of best for their near and dear ones. Anmol Gupta a teenager at Archie’s Gallery at Residency Road said, “I want to surprise my younger sister with a soft toy on this Dewaali and I am on this hunt but I want some unique piece not the traditional teddy bear.’ Glancing over the displayed stuff in the mentioned category, he picked up the Pink Panther with a long tail and said, “this will serve as Sheenu loves pink colour at the same time the toy is very soft and silky.’ Not only the toy shops are witnessing the huge clientele but other traders too are getting enthusiastic visitors when women seemed to rush to kitchen ware/utensils markets and Sarafa (Gold) Market, the children and youth opted for the Crackers markets at Parade Ground and Dusherra Ground Gandhinagar to buy the crackers and other fireworks. People were seen crowding towards the sweet shops in the city also which have been decorated specially to attract their customers. We are offering the gift packs and the sweets like the past years said Kishore a sales man on the sweet shop in Walled City at Moti Bazaar. The confectionary shops in the small lanes of the old city too have many attractive gift packs displayed on their displaying windows whether it caned juices, candies or the biscuits or the chocolates all have packed to attract their esteemed clientele. Sarafa bazaar namely the Jain Bazaar and Lakhdatta Bazaar also wore a new look to attract their customers. The jewelers in the markets have beautifully demarcated their shops with illumination and new trendy designs of jewelry showcased in their display cases. The historic Raghunath Bazaar too seemed adorned to have a festive look and to mark the festivity of Dewaali while people and tourist throng to the market to get their choicest gifts whether these are readymade garments or the dry fruits packets from the two popular shops in the oldest hub of trading in the city. |
