| Kettle calling the pot black | | | Early Times Special Correspondent Jammu | Nov 6 Pursuing decisive, communal agenda, Yaseen blames Indian government of creating communal divide Unnerved by the resistance by the Jammu people to his divisive and communal game plan, which forced the authorities to pack up Yaseen Malik and reach him beyond Jawahar tunnel in the valley and foil his move to spread anti India venom, in Jammu region as well, the JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik has charged the government of India of harbouring to divide J&K on communal lines. It is like the kettle calling the pot black. The boot is rather on the other leg. It is Yaseen Malik, who along with other secessionist and Islamic fundamentalist leaders is all out to divide J&K on communal lines by spreading the virus of communalism in the body political of the state. The people of Jammu, including Muslims and overwhelming majority of those inhabiting Muslim majority areas of Doda, Poonch and Rajouri are Indian nationalists to the core of their hearts. They do not brook any idea of dismemberment of the country and J&K's secession from India. They believe in the finality of J&K's accession to India and outrightly reject the secessionists' game plan of secession. Disregarding the sentiments of the people of Jammu at large Yaseen Malik and other secessionist leaders and outfits have been harping on the theme of the future of Jammu and Kashmir state having not been decided and demanding ascertaining the wishes of Kashmiris to decide the future of J&K as a whole. Thus they thrust their agenda of secession on the unwilling and non cooperative with them the people of Jammu as well as of Ladakh. Even the latest statement of Yaseen Malik condemning the action of the authorities in J&K government to not allow him to undertake Safar-e-Aazadi march in Jammu region, has spoken of the wishes of Kashmiris and the right of self determination to be given to the Kashmiris to decide their future. Emphasizing that is Safar-e-Aazadi is aimed at bringing awakening and mobilizing public opinion in Kashmir in peaceful resolution of the Kashmir problem, Yaseen Malik has not even once mentioned the people of Jammu also and their aspirations and urges too be taken into consideration. For the secessionist Kashmir alone is the state of Jammu and Kashmir and for them neither Jammu nor Ladakh matter and have their separate identities. They are for the identities of Jammu and Ladakh to be submerged with the Kashmiri identity and Kashmiri sentiments rein supreme in their estimation. This exclusive Kashmir regional politics in itself is decisive and if pursued unchecked and unopposed, has the potential to divide the state on regional lines and extenuating the already existing regional distrust and tensions. As far Yaseen Malik's charge of government of India dividing the state on communal lines, it are the leaders like Yaseen Malik and those heading other secessionist outfits who are leaving no stone unturned to divide J&K on communal lines. Their game plan of dismembering Jammu region by separating Muslim majority areas of the regions and their joining with the Kashmir valley on the bases of communal affinity, to fulfill the nefarious design of creating greater Kashmir divides Jammu and Kashmir on communal lines. Although Yaseen Malik claims himself and his outfit, JKLF to be secular in character, yet he has on several occasions spoken of the Muslim majority of J&K not being allowed to be diluted and has also taken up Muslim religious causes as an agenda of their movement. Above all JKLF thesis of Kashmiris having a separate nationality and not forming part of Indian nationalism, on the bases of which they demand right of self determination for the people of Kashmir and do not accept the finality of accession, has the only logic behind it of it being overwhelmingly Muslim majority area. While Yaseen Malik laments of 1947 riots in Jammu, when a larger number of Muslims were killed than the Hindus and the former migrated to Pakistan, he conveniently forgets the communal riots of 1931 when Kashmiri Hindus were indiscriminately killed, their properties looted and ransacked. Yaseen Malik and other Kashmir centric leaders take pride in the events of 1931 and observe July 13 as martyrs day to commemorate the memory of some Muslims killed in firing by the police, to disperse the communally surcharged mob, who was raising provocative pro Islamic and anti Hindi Dogra slogans and were set to attack the Hari Parvat jail in Srinagar. Yaseen Malik has also conveniently forgotten the communal holocaust in Kashmir valley in 1989-90, when a large number of Kashmiri Pandits were done to death and the honour of their women folk looted, which forced them and other Hindus to mass exodus from Kashmir valley. Again Yaseen Malik has ridiculed the claim of Indian government to be following the path of Mahatma Gandhi and has invoked Gandhi ji's non violent movement to justify his program of Safar-e-Aazadi. It is tantamount to devil quoting scriptures. Even if granted that Yaseen Malik who has his involvement in the past in the violent and criminal acts of gunning down four IAF officials in Srinagar and also kidnapping Rubina Mufti to keep her hostage to get release of some hardcore terrorists in exchange for her release, is now a changed man and believes in non violent means to pursue his agenda, he owes and apology to the nation for his past violent acts. Gandhi ji would always apologies and even repent for any violence injected by some others in any of his non violent movement. Let Yaseen Malik first come clear of the charges of violent criminal acts committed by him in the past, for which he is still being tried, before he can invoke Gandhi ji's non violence to justify his movement. |
