One day convention of National Conference delegates of Blocks of Surankote Assembly Constituency was held today at Surankote under the chairmanship of Qazi Mohd Syed Beg, District President Poonch.
In the Convention Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLA Surankote and senior National Conference leaders raised following resolutions:-
The National Conference Government had given a Degree College to Surankote. But it is unfortunate that the present coalition government has abundant that decision due to which the students of Surankote are facing too many hardships to get college education. The Convention resolved that Surankote be immediately given Degree College.
The convention expressed concern over the way the government is dealing with the militancy hit migrants of militancy infested area of Surankote. The convention alleged that inspite of the fact that Hon'ble Court has given directions to treat these migrants at par with Kashmir Migrants. The convention resolved that keeping in view their hardships these migrants be given all the relief as per court directions.
The convention resolved that National Conference high command has always given MLC ship in Mendhar and Poonch, but this time the party high command should consider Surankote also as the people of Surankote stood with the party and its high command at every time.
The convention expressed serious concern over the slow pace of developmental activities. The convention alleged that all those project started during the National Conference government have come to stand still. Convention resolved that pace of developmental works in the constituency should be expedited.
The convention expressed concern over the way the coalition partners are dividing the people in Poonch and Rajouri on caste basis. The Convention said that National Conference have always stood for unity, integrity of all the regions of the state and Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah gave slogan of "Sher-e-Kashmir ka kya irshda Hindu, Muslim, Silk Ithad". The convention appealed to the Gujjar and Pahari of this region to be united and frustrate the evil designs of such forces who are bent upon dividing the community on caste basis. The convention resolved that both the communities shall fight for their rights together.
The convention demanded that Parnai Hydro Electric Project be started at the earliest so that the problems of electricity in these far flung areas could be lessened.
The resolution were passed unanimously.
Addressing the day long convention Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, MLA Surankote said that the Paharis are demanding ST Status not on the cost of other Gujjar brothers. He emphasized that Gujjar and Pahari should unite themselves and fight for this cause, so that they could live with peace and prosperity in Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
He said he will always fight for the betterment of the people of the Surankote.
Addressing the convention Ajay Sadhotra Provincial President, Jammu province said that National Conference under the patronage of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Presidentship of Omar Abdullah is the custodian of rights of the people of the state and National Conference has shown a clear path which leads to peace, prosperity i.e Autonomy. He said it is high time that Government of India should consider restoration of Autonomy in the state in order to bring lasting peace in the state. He said that by restoring Autonomy in the state, atmosphere of confidence shall be created.
He asked the party rank and file to be united and strengthen the fast growing wave in favour of National Conference. He said the corruption, rise in prices and unemployment have opened eyes of the common people and they are feeling cheated. The people are in search of appropriate time to bring back National Conference in power, he added.
Provincial President assured the convention with the support of people of Poonch District especially Surankote the party shall come to power and shall make all out efforts to lessen the problems of the common people.
Ajay Sadhotra said that he salutes the people of Poonch District especially Surankote for always supporting the party and its leadership.
He expressed confidence that in the coming elections the National Conference fort in the District shall be further strengthened.
