| CSD hails decision to increase 25 percent compensation | | Raw deal to affected farmers, alleges Yogi | | Early Times Reporter Doda | Nov 6 Despite acquisition of land measuring about 800 kanals of paddy land some two years back in Sungli village in Bhaderwah for setting up University Campus , there, the compensation cases are still pending up with the authorities causing great resentment among the affected farmers. The acquisition of this paddy land, the only source of livelihood of these hapless farmers, has adversely affected the economic condition of these farmers in absence of compensation as was promised earlier. In the meantime the Congress Seva Dal has hailed the decision increasing compensation by 25 per cent. This was revealed by senior vice president of Janata Dal (S) Mast Nath Yogi while taling to newsmen here today. The JD leader said that the farmers are strongly resenting the Tourism Department’s move to forcibly acquire about 52 kanals of dry cultivable land, while the authorities are hell bent in its move and even sought help from the Police to disperse the agitating farmers . He alleged that the force used lathies to disperse the peaceful agitating farmers adding that even the ladies were not spared.. Yogi has urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter and get the compensation released to the affected farmers without any further delay. However, in the meantime the Congress Seva Dal has highly appreciated the efforts of the DDC Doda Sourav Bhagat for amicably resolving the land dispute issue at Sungli village, acquired for setting up University Campus and for promotion of tourism in the area. Addressing media persons here today State Secretary CSD Bashir Ahmed Wani stated that the District Development Commissioner at a joint meeting of the farmers and the state officials agreed to increase compensation up to 25 per cent. On the occasion, Seva Dal leaders also criticized the BJP and NC for exploiting the issue of compensation of farmers of Sungli village for political mileage .Capt .K.C.Kotwal , Tek Chand, Kulbhushan , Brig Lal ,Shoket Mir ,Ghulam Hussan Dar and Ravinder Thakur were among others present on the occasion. |
