| Pilot, among seven injured, in helicopter crash | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 6 A Pilot of Himalayan Chopper Service and six other passengers, including two children, had a miraculous escape in a chopper crash landing near Katra helipad this afternoon. Reports reaching here revealed that as soon as the chopper with six passengers hailing from Noida, Delhi took off at about 1315 hrs. from Katra helipad for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, the engine of the chopper developed some technical snag and the chopper crash landed in the open fields near helipad resulting into injuries to the passengers. The pilot of the chopper R P Sharma escaped with no injury but was reported to be in shock. The civilian and the police team rushed to spot and retrieved the passengers from the damaged chopper and immediately rushed to hospital. The injured passenger have been identified as Atul (35 yrs), his wife Megha (31yrs), Kishitiz (11yrs), Rachita (6yrs), Rajni (41yrs) and Akash (17yrs). Sources said the Megha was later shifted to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for special treatment and her condition is reported to be stable. Reports said soon after the incident, the senior civil and police officers immediately rushed to the site of the accident and supervised the rescue operation. Fire tenders were also called in as a precautionary measure. The area was later sealed to preserve the scene of accident and people were prevented from going close to the damaged helicopter. |
