| Devotees escape narrowly as chopper snags | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 6 The air traffic security concerns once again came to the focus today as six devotees had a narrow escape when a chopper carrying them to the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi made an emergency landing midway. While all the passengers were safe, the authorities have launched a probe to ascertain the causes of snag. "We have to find out whether the chopper number of engines required for flying on this route", said an official of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The chopper was operated by Himalayan Hill Service Aviation company. According to Additional SP Katra Ashok Sharma the chopper took from Katra to Sanjhi Chhat this afternoon carrying six passengers on board. When it developed a technical snag and had to make an emergency landing at Serli village, three kilometers from Katra. Sharma said, the Chetak helicopter developed a technical snag and the pilot had to make an emergency landing near a Gurduwara in Serli Village. He added that the helicopter did not land properly and it tilted a little causing minor injuries to the passengers. The chopper was piloted by Captain RP Sharma. Deputy Chief Executive officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Mr R.B Seri, Block Medical Officer Katra, Naib Tehsildar, SHO Katra arrived at the spot immediately with rescue hospital staff and fire tender service teams. The passengers were shifted to Katra Hospital for treatment later on receiving complaints of backbone problem Rajni D/o J.P Gupta and Ms Mega Goel W/o Mr. Atul Goel were shifted to GMC Jammu. |
