Now, e-donations for Mata

With the most revered Himalayan shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi getting devotes from across the world, the process of donations has been made easier by the shrine board in collaboration with a private bank.
"Devotees from around the world will now find it easier to make online donations to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir with the shrine board and the HDFC bank on Tuesday signing an agreement on the matter", said Dr Arun Kumar, Chief Executive Officer. Earlier Kumar and HDFC country operations head A Rajan signed an agreement here for providing a reliable online system, an official release said.
Under the agreement, devotees can make online contributions to the shrine and also avail of other e-commerce transactions for various services.
SMVDSB CEO said revenue to the board through online services registered over 100 fold increase to Rs two crore so far this year.
There has been rapid growth in online services since the launch of the official website of the shrine board -- www.Maavaishnodevi.Org -- in October 2004. SMVDSB has generated Rs 4.36 crore since 2004 from online facilities, it said.
HDFC bank is already offering this facility to many other temples and institutions around the country like Shree Sidhivinayak Ganapati Temple, Shri Jagannath Temple, Somnathji temple among others.
Under the agreement, the devotees can make on-line contributions or donations to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and also avail of various other e-Commerce transactions for various services. The devotees can now opt for any mode for making donations including direct debit to their HDFC Bank account or any Visa/Master, Credit Cards and Debit Cards of any bank.
The CEO said that the revenue to the Board through online services registered much over 100 fold increase from Rs 1.50 lakhs in 2003, when the facility was launched to Rs 2 crores so far this year.
HDFC Bank is already offering this facility to many other temples and institutions around the country like Shree Sidhivinayak, Ganapati Temple, Shri Jagannath Temple, Somnathji Temple etc. The Bank has designed special product for the shrine as well as devotees to simplify the donations transactions through a foolproof process. Online donation facilitate devotees across the globe to make donations to temples who have opted for the online donations with the bank and devotees can also select the purpose for which the donation is being made.
