| Legislators await cabinet post as Diwali gift | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 7 A number of congress legislators have stopped taking reports on cabinet expansion and reshuffle seriously.” We have been reading such reports and listening to rumours for about two years. We have stopped paying any attention,” one senior Congress legislator said today. Another congress legislator said that “I suspect the hand of the Chief Minister in getting rumours and reports circulated to keep us guessing. He may be doing so to ensure that all those legislators who were not in the cabinet continued to demonstrate their loyalty to him.” He said “we are loyal to the Congress and the Chief Minister. We are senior in political field and as such we need not to be befooled by such reports and rumours.” However, despite pronounced disinterest in cabinet expansion reports number of them have started expecting a Diwali gift from the Chief Minister who is said to be toying with the idea of inducting three to four new faces in his council of ministers and of carrying out reshuffle of the portfolios. Since the Chief Minister has been told that scheduled casts, Sikhs and Pandits could help the Congress in the next election he may give representation to one member from each of these communities and ethnic groups in the council of ministers. According to these reports Mr Azad may go in for cabinet expansion on any day between November 10 and 12. Will those legislators, foreseeing cabinet expansion, be ultimately receive the Diwali gift or are left in the lurch again? One has to wait for another four days. |
