| CEO withholds pay of teachers, orders inquiry | | | Early Times Reporter Udhampur | Nov 7 The Chief Education Officer (CEO), Udhampur, V.M. Raina has directed the Zonal Education Officer, Tikri to stop the pay of absentee teachers for the month of November, 2007 and conduct inquiry of rice in balance including non-start of mid-day meal to middle classes of Govt. Middle School, Dhirthee and submit the detailed report with his comments within a week’s time. The matter came to light during surprise visit of CEO to ascertain the ground reality regarding the confidential reports pouring in respect of teachers working in various Primary, Middle and High Schools of Zone Tikri falling in Panthal, Kakrial for being late and not attending their respective schools regularly. During his surprise visit at Middle School, Dhirthee, CEO found three Teachers namely Aruna Gupta, Indu Sharma and Savita Gupta absent. He also checked the mid-day meal record and it was observed that rice balance as per register was 26.400 KGs whereas physically more than 60 KGs rice was found available in the school. Mid-day meal to be served to the students of middle classes from Nov.01, has not been implemented in the school. At GMS Sira, the Headmaster who left on November 2, 2007 to attend DIET Reasi had not reached the school till November 5on the date of inspection. Two masters and Four Teachers were also found arriving late in the school and managed their fake leave applications written by two teachers and leave marked in the punctuality registers without prior sanction. Similarly, CEO found irregularities in maintenance of records and observance of punctuality in Primary School Chak Bhagta, GMS Panthal and Chamba respectively. The ZEO Tikri was directed to take care of erring teachers and make proper use of funds under SSA. |
