Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 7 Tawi Trekkers, J&K, as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations conducted a day-long rock climbing camp at Jajjar Kotli wherein 10 students of Sprawling Buds Chinore, here participated. The participants were imparted training in the art and various techniques of rock climbing by two ace climbers of the state, Ram Singh Slathia and Sazaied Hyder. Both the instructors, who are probable for next year’s Police Mount Everest expedition, shared their mountaineering experiences with the budding climbers. “The confidence being in the safe hands of highly trained climbers enabled the tiny tots to enjoy rapelling down the 35 ft high wall many a times,” general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria told SAN. At the end of the training session there was a stiff competition for the best climber of the camp award with many boys and girls displaying good techniques and temperament. In the process, nine-year old Shivani Thakral, who gave an overall good performance, was adjudged as the `best climber of the camp’. She shall be honoured in a function of the club to be organized shortly. The camp was organized under the supervision of Sumit Khajuria, another senior climber of J&K, Ramesh Khajuria and Rahul Sharma, Directors of the Sprawling Buds School. Other participants of the camp were Pooja Pandita, Sanjeev Bhagat, Sonia Bhagat, Mahima Jamwal, Manvi Khajuria, Sahil Kumar, Pinky, Aditya Raina, Parth Khajuria and Shivani Thakral. |
