| PG Arts beats Bhaderwah College by 8 wkts | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 7 A brilliant innings of 63 by Atul Sharma today guided PG Arts to an easy eight wickets win over Degree College Bhaderwah in the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at University of Jammu grounds, here. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Bhaderwah College lost all their wickets for 109 runs in 34.2 over of the 40 over game, which, in reply, PG Arts chased in 18.1 over losing two wickets. Arshad played nice innings of 34 runs including four hits to the fence while Aaqib and Sunny contributed 21 and 16 runs to the total respectively. Vikram Jamwal was most successful bowler from PG Arts who took three wickets for 25 runs. Paramjeet Singh and Shashi Chib shared two wickets each. Batting second, PG Arts reached the required target with ease making 110 runs in 18.1 over. Besides Atul, who made 86-ball 63, Opinder Singh also batted well and contributed second highest 22 runs to the total. Arshad bagged one wicket for Bhaderwah College. For his unbeaten knock of 63, Atul Sharma was declared man of the match. He was presented the trophy by Managing Editor Sportsline, Sanjeev Sharma, who was special guest. Speaking to the members of both the teams, Sanjeev highlighted how sports has not been able to grow on the campus on expected lines and hoped that the new Director Physical Education, Prof Lokesh Verma would initiate some infrastructural development in near future. Also member of the JU Cricket Committee, Sharma asked the University authorities to implement the recommendation of the committee with regard to facilities for the cricketers. |
