| Natrang holds interaction with Kemmu | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 7 Natrang organized a programme of ‘An Interaction with Ravi Kemmu’ here at Natrang Studio Theatre. Ravi Kemmu is an eminent Theatre and Film personality of J&K State currently based in Mumbai. Director Natrang Balwant Thakur presided over the function and Moti Lal Kemmu was the Chief Guest. Ravi Kemmu is one of the celebrated personalities of the state of J&K, after post graduating in Dramatcis from National School of Drama Ravi worked on the performing traditions of Kerala where he worked in Malayalam films with famous actress performing Zania Bahab. Afterwards he took the major initiative to revive the Bhand Pather Theatre tradition of Kashmir and later represented North India in the first National Theatre festival organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi with a Kashmiri play ‘Ashiq Te Gopali’. He is credited for reviving the Bhand Pather and presented it in a contemporary style. In Mumbai he worked with top film personalities like Shayam Benegal, and had the occasion to work in major TV serials like ‘Yatra’ and ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’. He also worked in Kashmir based series ‘Gul Ghulshan Ghulfam’. He also has the honour to be the professor of Acting at the Bhartendu Natya Academy, Lucknow. Later he started his own training institute which produced best of the actors including his own son Kunal Khemmu who is a leading star in the Bollywood films and has given super hits like ‘Kalyug’, ‘Traffic Signal’ and ‘Dhol’. |
