| DYSS inspects grounds for national school cricket meet | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Nov 10 To finalise the arrangements for the National School Games (girls under-19 cricket) in December, a team of senior officers of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) today paid visit to different grounds in and around Jammu to prepare a list of proposed venues. Besides the MA Stadium, GGM Science College and University of Jammu grounds, the team also inspected the grounds at Nagbani School, K C Public School and Sainik School Nagtora. “We require at least five well prepared grounds for the national event which has been allotted to the DYSS by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in the second week of December, so today we had a round of different grounds,” Assistant Director (central) of DYSS, Ashok Kumar told SAN, here today. The team was led by Deputy Director (Jammu), S A Wani and accompanied by Assistant Director, S S Bali. In all, 16 teams representing as many states are expected to take part in the mega event in the Winter Capital. “The invitations have already been dispatched to the SGFI affiliated units and we are expecting at least 16 teams to take part,” the Assistant Director disclosed. Meanwhile, to prepare the state team, the Department has started started the provincial level coaching camps at Jammu and Srinagar. |
