Poonch: In a goodwill gesture, Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged sweets along the Line of Control (LoC) at Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch on the occasion of Diwali. The gates at Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point were opened last evening and Indian troops led by Col J P Yadav handed over sweets to Pakistani troops, officials said today.
Pakistani troops, led by Col Zia also offered sweets to their Indian counterparts at the crossing point, they said adding that this was purely a goodwill gesture on the occasion of Diwali. Earlier, on the occasion of Eid on October 13, both the sides have exchanged sweets and dry fruits.
Chakan-da-Bagh is opened every fortnight to facilitate movement of the civilians from the divided parts of Jammu and Kashmir to meet their family members, relatives and friends on a permit of 20 days.
