| Omar demands relief for Sonamarg victims | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Nov 12 Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president and MP Omar Abdullah has expressed shock and grief over the damage to over 40 shops in Sonamarg area due to a devastating fire and demanded adequate compensation to the fire victims. Omar Abdullah in a press statement issued here today said that shops were the only source of livelihood for the shopkeepers in Sonamarg area on Srinagar-Leh highway and government should immediately act to provide them relief. He said that fire sufferers should be provided immediate relief so that their families should not suffer and remaining compensation should be provided after assessment of losses. Omar said that shopkeepers on Srinagar-Leh highway have a limited season and their families are solely dependent on the income from these shops. He hoped that government would act immediately and compensate the fire victims. He extended his sympathies with the affected families. "The government should constitute an inquiry commission to find out the cause of fire and come up with a detail report", he added. |
