| Victimisation of sports continue | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 22 Because of the VVIPS, it was again sports that suffered. The conversion of front ground of the University of Jammu into a parking lot on a visit of the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad on the campus today resulted into delayed start of the already scheduled inter-college competitions. The women’s volleyball matches scheduled to be conducted in the morning started only in the afternoon whereas the women’s cricket tie could not take place and was shifted for tomorrow. No activity could take place during these VVIPS stay and it was only after the Chief Minister left the Campus, the actual competition started on the ground. In fact, the overcrowded University of Jammu is fast becoming a congested place, the reason being more buildings coming up to accommodate the new departments in the same small space. The way JU is raising structures, the day is not far when the grounds will become permanent parking lots on the campus. So, before it is too late, the authorities concerned should give a thought to the problem sparing the play fields for sports activities only. |
