| Vocational training for physically challenged persons | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 22 To make physically challenged people self-sufficient, Directorate of Social Welfare Jammu has started vocational centres, capacity building for physically challenged persons. In the first phase Director Social Welfare, Satish Nehru has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 3.567 lakh for Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar districts for imparting three months computer training to eighty seven physically challenged students who are matriculates. During the course of training each candidate will be paid Rs. 100 as stipend per month. The training will be imparted through State Run Community Information Centre for which Rs. 52,200 are being spent. On the completion of training DOEACC shall undertake examination of the trainees. Examination fee of DOEACC @ Rs. 500 per trainee shall also be reimbursed by the department besides T.A @ Rs. 15 per ady per trainee shall also be given to the beneficiaries. The training programme specifically for physically challenged persons is being extended on the same pattern in other districts also. Earlier, Rs.2.10 lakh was sanctioned for physically challenged persons of Udhampur and Reasi districts for undertaking similar training through Community Information Centre. |
