| Education key to build healthy, civilized society: Aijaz | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 22 Maintaining that education is imperative for building a healthy and civilized society, Minister of State for Higher Education, Aijaz Ahmad Khan has asked the teacher fraternity to imbibe in students high moral values while delivering academic education to shape them into well responsible citizens. Khan was addressing B. Ed students of College of Education, Jammu on fresher’s day here today. He emphasized upon the student community to seek education with a mission of developing their overall personality rather than confining it to mere getting certificates and degrees. He also asked them to strictly adhere to the rules and norms of the college to maintain discipline as future of a society depends on their personality. Describing teachers as the real architects of a nation, Aijaz Khan asked them to adopt an encouraging approach while teaching which will help in tapping the hidden talent of the students in different fields like science, history, information technology, education etc. The Minister said that professional colleges deal with that bunch of youth who are being shaped to take over the future responsibilities of society adding the future of any nation is being shaped in class rooms so the teacher in general and trained teachers in particular become pivotal so far as their role is concerned. He said that conventional system of education needs to be replaced by modern technological and psychological techniques. In this regard he underlined the need of introducing reformative strategies to bring in a revolutionary transformation in education system. Khan said that the present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken historical steps for improving and extending education facilities to every nook and corner of the state. Earlier, the Minister interacted with teachers and management of the college and enquired about the education being provided to the students. During the interaction, Principal Dr. M. L. Parwana and other members of the staff projected the problems faced by them which include lack of infrastructure, teaching staff, construction of hostel and playing fields. Director, Higher Education Dr. M. D. Wani while interacting with the faculty members discussed at length the B-Ed and M-Ed courses being run in the college. Students of the College presented cultural programme on the occasion. |
