| Azad may expand ministry after Poonch bypoll | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | November 22 Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad’s plan of expanding the council of ministers and of carrying out reshuffle of portfolios has got delayed because of the ensuing bypoll, necessasitated by the demise of G.M.Jan, in Poonch Assembly constituency. Sources in the Pradesh Congress committee said here today that the expansion and reshuffle of the portfolios of ministers were to be carried out by the third week of November but the byelection in Poonch constituency caused the delay. The polling is scheduled to be held on December 12 and the Chief Minister may expand the council of ministers after the election results were out, according to the sources in the congress. The sources said that Mr Azad had in mind the need for giving representation to Pooch-Rajouri belt, Kashmiri Pandit and Sikh communities. As per the adoption of the bill in the state legislature restricting the size of the ministry Mr Azad can take four new faces, three from the congress and one from the PDP, in his council of ministers, Hitherto he has been trying to stall cabinet expansion because the number of seekers of ministerial berth was so high that Mr Azad could not accommodate all of them. |
