| Inf Deptt observes cultural unity day | | Mangat for fostering communal harmony, nationhood among youth | | Earluy Times Reporter JAMMU, NOV 23 Emphasizing on fostering and reinforcing the spirit of communal harmony, national integration and pride in our vibrant composite culture and nationhood among youth, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is a magnificent paradigm of brotherhood in a multi-cultural and multi-religious society. The Minister was addressing a gathering at a function organized to observe Cultural Unity Day as a part of National Integration Week (Quami Ekta Week) being celebrated throughout the nation from November 19 to November 25. The State Information Department, Cultural Wing, Jammu had organized a function at Government College for Women Parade, here this afternoon. Saying that the purpose of observing the Week is to highlight the inherent strength and nurture a spirit of communal harmony in its broader sense, Mr. Sharma asserted that such programmes articulate the sentiment that our nation would not countenance any forces that seek to divide our society or threaten our rich composite cultural ethos. On the occasion, Mr. Sharma asked the youth to pledge to work with dedication to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation. Being the future of country, they carry the essence of the idea of Unity- Ekta with them, he addedMrs. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary celebrations, Mr. Sharma said that her great historic contributions and tireless efforts for progress and prosperity of nation shall always remain enshrined in great hearts of every true patriot. The Minister lauded the Information Department for organizing the programmes to highlight and present the Indian traditions of unity in diversity and for promoting cultural conservation and integration. MLA, Suchetgarh Mr. Garu Ram stressed for preserving the rich cultural ethos of our state and inculcating spirit of national integration and unity among budding generations. Joint Director Information, Jammu Mr. S.K Sharma highlighted the dire need of conserving our cultural unity and integration. He said such occasions not only acquaint the youth with our vibrant composite culture but also imbibe strength and resilience of our nation to withstand actual and potential threats to the eclectic and secular fabric of our country. Principal Government College for Women Parade, Mrs Usha Jayee expressed gratitude to Information Department for observing the Cultural Unity Day with students. On the occasion, the artists of Cultural Unit, Information Department Jammu and students presented a mesmerizing cultural programme highlighting the rich cultural ethics of our state.
