| Symposium on eradication of child labour organized | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | NOV 23 As a part of prohibition of child labour fortnight awareness campaign, the Labour Department organized a symposium on the topic ‘Eradication of Child Labour’ at Government Girls High School, Bakshi Nagar here this morning. Labour Commissioner Mr. Pritpal Singh Betab was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh stressed upon the students to spread awareness among the masses in their respective areas. He advised them to inform the Labour Department about the engagement of child labour at commercial establishments as well as domestic servants. He said that fine of Rs. 20,000 besides one year punishment can be imposed on the defaulters. He said that for eradication of child labour from the business establishments, students could play vital role to educate all sections of the society. The Labour Commissioner thanked the school administration for their cooperation to make the symposium successful. On the occasion, about seven students participated in the programme. Miss Hinder of class 9th was adjudged Ist while Miss Nitika as second and Miss Nitu Mehra and Miss Payal jointly shared the 3rd position. Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu and Principal of the school also spoke on the topic. Later, the Labour Commissioner distributed prizes among the meritorious students. |
