Hakeem's Hukamnama: SRTC's JMD, 21 others attached

Following revelation of large scale irregularities in the CP fund management and other misappropriations, the Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has nailed tip officials of the State Transport Corporation including its Joint Managing Director.
Official sources said that the Minister has ordered attachment of Joint Managing Director Mr. Yogesh Koul State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) Administration with the Directorate of State Motor Garages with immediate effect following the administrative irregularities. The Minister also ordered attachment of other 21 officials of the corporation including four Managers and one Assistant Accounts officer with the Transport Commissioner and Motor Garages departments on the complaints of irregularities committed in the corporation.
Meanwhile, the government today constituted 3-member high power committee headed by Managing Director SRTC Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Loan to enquire into the mis-appropriation made in C. P. Fund of employees and irregularities in purchases and appointments made during last ten years. The committee has been directed to submit its report to the government with in one month.
Commenting on the matter Hakeem Yaseen said that government can not bear out further losses in the SRTC so drastic action against the involved officials have been initiated. He said the government would adopt "no work no pay" wages policy in the corporation and will ensure that discipline is created fully in it.
Hakeem Yaseen said that 22 ineffective and defective officials who continues in the Corporation will prove detrimental interest in the corporation as a first step of weeding out ineffective officials including Jt. M.D have been attached.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Public Undertakings Committee of Legislative Assembly in its meeting held here today discussed the CAG's Audit Report of 1998-99 and took strong note of certain discrepancies surfacing in SRTC with regard to material management and inventory control, loss of revenue due to improper planning, paucity of funds for salaries to the corporation employees and other matters related to the Corporation.
Chairman Gharu Ram while reviewing the financial health of SRTC directed the Managing Director to submit report regarding the unsuccessful agreement between SRTC and Food Corporation of India with in ten days.
Expressing concern over non-disbursal of salaries to the SRTC employees since many months. Gharu Ram directed for immediate disbursal of salaries.
Further Chairman asked to furnish list of retired employees of SRTC and details of their dues pending with the Corporation.
Gharu Ram also directed to disengage all the employees appointed recently by SRTC authorities unauthorizedly.
The Committee stressed for utilization of branch offices wherever they exist in other states of the country. All sorts of alleged administrative irregularities committed should be brought to the notice of the committee, chairman added. He asked for submission of reasons for attachment of General Manager, SRTC and also to give details of charges against him
