| Accountant, salesman acquitted after 25 years trial | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 24 Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu, Mr. Kartar Singh, acquitted Baldev Raj, the then Accountant Cooperative Society Sunderbani, who allegedly misappropriated an amount of Rs 7, 914 and Sham Lal, the then Salesman, who allegedly misappropriated an amount of 1, 20, 181/- in the shape of shortage of fertilizers in the year 1981-1982, 1982-1983. On the complaint of Joint-Registrar Cooperative Society along with the audit enquiry report written a complaint with Vigilance Commissioner was registered and enquiry was conducted. On the basis of enquiry, challan was presented in the Court Special Judge Anticorruption. Court on March 29, 1995 framed charges against the accused u/s 5(2) PC Act r/w section 409 RPC. After considering the statements of the witnesses produced by the SVO, Court found that Vigilance Organization miserably failed to connect the accused with the crime investigated by Organization as such the accused are acquitted from the charges leveled against them.
