| Militants take upper hand in Bhaderwah in Sonu’s absence | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 24 Militant groups active in hilly Bhaderwah in Doda district seem to have taken upper hand taking advantage of the long absence of encounter specialist police officer Shiv Krishan Sharma alias Sonu. Ever since J&K police encounter specialist got hurt during day light operation with LeT militants in Chinote in Bhaderwah on September 18, the special task force has not launched any counter terrorist operation in the area. It may be mentioned that mere mention of Sonu’s name used to sent shivers down the spine of militants as he had earned for himself the reputation of tough officer committed to break the back bone of militant groups. But ever since the dare devil police officer received injuries during an encounter with militants the militant groups are breathing easy and spending time on strengthening and regrouping in the hilly area. Reports reaching here said that Sonu had established close knit network of reliable sources and was keeping track of the movement of militants in the region. A senior police officer in the area said, on number of occasions he used to trap militants and later killed them while they were crossing the forest area. Official sources said since Sonu is staying away from Bhaderwah and is camping in Jammu sources cultivated by him are not forwarding fresh information fearing backlash. |
