| Major tragedy averted, IED recovered from Railway track | | | Early Times Reporter

With the timely detection of a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from railway track at Barwal Morh area in the Kathua district a major tragedy has been averted.
According to reports, a police personnel identified as Balbir Kumar resident of Barwal Morh posted at Police Station Lakhanpur who was returning from his home found a bag on the track and immediately informed the police. On receipt of the information, Police along with bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and found an IED weighing nearly 2 and half Kgs concealed in the bag and successfully defused it without causing any damage. The timely detection of the IED a major tragedy has been averted. Police has registered a case and launched a search operation in the area.
In the meantime another tragedy was averted by Gharota police with the timely recovery of one live hand grenade lying in the bushes near Police Station Gharota. The police with the help of Bomb Disposal squad defused it and launched a search operation in the adjoining areas. |
