| ‘Eye witnesses hold Army responsible’ | | Bhushan died due to overtaking a truck; Defence spokesman | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 24 A Defence spokesman has denied the report published in a local newspaper that one Bushal Lal died due to the negligent driving by an army officer at Gadigarh on November 19 and the Police was deliberately shielding the accused officer. Reacting to the report the spokesman said that late Bhushan Lal while trying to overtake a truck at a high speed on his scooter collided with an Army jeep and the army vehicle driven by a licensed and trained driver and not by an officer, as alleged in the report, picked up the injured person and immediately evacuated him to GMC Jammu and information about the accident was given by Army Personnel at Gadigarh Chowki and policeman accompanied the Army vehicle till hospital. He said despite all out efforts by the doctors, the deceased could not be saved as suffered brain hemorrhage. Even the blood was donated by the army personnel and four army officers attended to the causality through the night at the hospital. The spokesman further said that the army authorities are providing all possible help to the bereaved family and subsequently a court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts. However, the family members of the deceased and some eye witnesses, who visited the EARLY TIMES office here today maintained that Bhushan Lal died due to the negligence of the army official who was driving the vehicle without being fully trained. |
