| Dilawar for popularizing green house technology | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 24 Minister for Horticulture and Tourism Mohammad Dilawar Mir has called for wide spread introduction of poly green house technology to give boost to horticulture production on scientific lines. Reviewing progress on implementation of ongoing Rs. 1.00 crore technology mission at a high level meeting held here last evening, the Minister said that poly green technology has emerged as one of the most low cost technology for bulk production of quality plant materials and off-season vegetables and low volume-high value crops in the most advanced countries adding that need of the hour was to introduce this technology in the state and bring green revolution. He also urged for encouraging cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants demanded forest areas as alternate source of livelihood to the people. This would go a long way in conserving and protecting green wealth besides improving and transforming socio-economic profile of the people as cultivation of aromatic and herbal plants is emerging as the most profitable export oriented business activity in the world. Financial Commissioner Agriculture Production, S. S. Sahini, Director Horticulture, Planning and Marketing Showkat Ahmad Zargar, Director Horticulture Kashmir N.A. Wani, Director Horticulture Jammu M.S.Qasba, Managing Director JKHPMC, B. A. Banday and concerned officers were present in the meeting. The meeting also reviewed progress on Market Intervention Scheme. The scheme, first of its kind in the state has been introduced to provide market support to the fruit growers. The Minister instructed the Commissioner Agriculture to complete all necessary formalities for setting up of a model terminal fruit market in South Kashmir for providing marketing support to the fruit growers. |
