| Troops vacation would harbinger a positive change on the ground: Bukhari | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Nov 24 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) district committee Baramulla today has welcomed the withdrawal of troops from school and hospital buildings. Speaking on an occasion MLC and district president Baramulla Basharat Bukhari who presided over a meet at Dak Bungalow Baramulla hailed the decision. Referring to vacation of troops as a welcome gesture, Bukhari said that the same would help in improving health and education sector which were lacking the requisite infrastructure. He however, stressed on army top brass to shift from all the school and hospital buildings within the stipulated time, set by defense minister A K Antony. Bukhari said that vacation of troops, being a component of Confidence Building Measures (CBM) would harbinger a positive change on the ground. He added that relocation of troops from public property slot in Peoples Democratic Party's demand of gradual troop reduction envisages a better, secure and a dignified life for the citizenry of the state. He observed that given the improvement in the ground situation in valley the security forces should return to their barracks. Besides, troop reduction Bukhari said that repeal of draconian laws especially AFSPA is a must in order to empower civil institutions in the state. The committee also reviewed the stock position of essential commodities and stressed on the government for availability of buffer stocks in depots in view of winter. |
