| Speaker notifies assembly calendar | | Session to have 21 sitting only | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 24 After summoning of the state legislature by the Governor for January 7, the Speaker Legislative Assembly has today formally notified the business calendar. According to first calander issued by the legislative assembly secretariat, the forthcoming session beginning January 7 will have 21 sittings at all. The Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Qarri will be presenting budget on January 16. The budget session comes to an end on February 1 if its is not extended. As per a bulletin issued by the Secretary Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Ramzan, the Members have been informed to send not more than 10 starred, 10 un-starred questions and not more than 5 bills by or before December 7, 2007 to Assembly Secretariat. Similarly the Resolutions can be submitted by or before Dec. 20, 2007. Meanwhile the Speaker Mr. Tara Chand has issued provisional calendar for the sittings of the 14 th Session of 10th Legislative Assembly. As per the calendar there would be 21 sittings in total. The session would begin on January 7, 2007 with the Governor's address to both the Houses. Discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address would be taken on January 8,9,10 and 11 whereas January 12, 13 have been kept for Government Business. The calendar says that State budget for the year 2008-09 and Supplementary statement of expenditure for the year 2007-08 would be presented on January 16. General discussion on budget would be held on January 17, 18 and 21 whereas Demands for Grants would be taken up on January 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30. Private Members' Resolutions would be taken up on January 15 and January 31 has been fixed for Appropriation Bills. Similarly, Private Members' Bills would be taken up on February 1, 2008. |
