External vigilance by people must for progress of state: Aijaz

The Minister of State for Higher Education and Forests. Aijaz Ahmad Khan has appealed to the people to remain vigilant about the misdeeds of mischievous elements who exploit them to further their vested interests and self-aggrandizement. External vigilance of citizens was must for progress of the state, he added.
Addressing a public gathering at Salalkote Arnas a hilly area about 150 km away from here during his extensive tour of the area today, Aijaz said that government has initiated various people friendly policies for their socio economic transformation especially for hilly, far off and under developed areas of the state.
Elaborating the developmental activities initiated by the government in Arnas block of Reasi district, the Minister said the construction work of 3 road projects in Salalkote area has been sanctioned and work would start soon and added the work on Chenana Devata to Khod 5 km road costing Rs. 2.36 crore is in progress.
To boost agriculture in the area, 17 watershed projects at the cost of Rs. 1 crore have been taken up in the area he said adding under integrated child development scheme six more Anganwadi centres would be set up in Salalkote and Kotoli areas.
Aijaz stressed upon the officers and engineers to work with missionary spirit for the overall development of the people and advised them that all the under execution developmental projects should be completed within stipulated time frame adding use of quality material should be ensured at all costs.
He called upon the people to monitor the use of quality material and timely completion of development projects in their areas, adding any irregularity or fraud committed by any functionary in this regard should be reported to the government.
