Some unidentified militants ambushed an army patrol party, killing a solider, in frontier district of Kupwara, late on Saturday evening.
An official spokesman said that militants ambushed patrol party of 28 RR at Shah Koot, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sogam in Kupwara district.
During the brief exchange of fire between the two sides, a solider, identified as rifleman Vijay Kumar, was wounded and later succumbed to his injuries, spokesman said .
However, the militants managed to escape taking advantage of dense forests, the spokesman added. |
