Jharkhand inflicts 250 runs defeat on J&K in Ranji

Jammu | Nov 26: Jammu and Kashmir today suffered a humiliating 250 runs defeat in the hands of Jharkhand that too on the home wicket in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group-B match played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Resuming their innings from overnight score of 85 for four, J&K played well in the first hour of the play with Majid Dar hitting a couple of good shots in the company of Sarabjeet Singh, who too batted cautiously. Both together added 28 runs to the overnight score of 85 bringing the total to 113. But the fall of Majid, caught by Subrato Ghosh off Santosh Lal, brought an end to J&K innings and the whole side bowled for a meager total of 125 with last five wickets adding only 12 runs to the score. Samiullah Beigh, Sameer Khajuria and Sameer Ali were not allowed to open their accounts by Jharkhand bowlers, especially Santosh Lal, who took last three wickets to complete his four wickets haul. Shiv Shankar Rao also achieved the same feat with four for 32.
The virtually surrender by the hosts speak loudly about these ill prepared cricketers for the prestigious event. Loss of four wickets in a span of just 12 runs this morning, including three duck outs, was never expected from the team, which was ultimate choice of the selectors.
It is a time for introspection on part of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. Those manning the affairs should think over where the cricket will go from here. The third consecutive defeat in Ranji Trophy and not so encouraging results in competitions of other age groups would certainly discourage the people to take up the game of cricket in J&K.
Now, in the fourth match of the five match league round of Plate Group-B, J&K will take on Haryana on December Ist at the same venue.
