| Khajuria demands removal of dubious ministers, bureaucrats | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 26 Accusing Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad of accommodating undesirable elements in his council of ministers, including those belonging to the PDP, State BJP President Ashok Khajuria today urged the State Governor Lt. Gen.(Retd.) S.K. Sinha to exercise his constitutional authority and order cleansing of elements with doubtful credentials occupying important positions in the political establishment and the civil and police administration. He said purging of such elements has become absolutely necessary in view of the campaign unleashed by the PDP leaders seeking withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and army from the state. Khajuria drew the attention of the State Governor to the statements being made repeatedly by the PDP Patron and the party president containing dubious suggestions, including the one relating to the so-called ‘Healing Touch Policy’. He said it is absurd that the Indian State has handed over the State power to a party in Jammu and Kashmir which is just not capable of reining in dubious characters and sending a right signal to all the concerned that those who would indulge in anti-state activities shall be brought to justice under the relevant rules. BJP President also asked the State Governor to direct the State Chief Minister to go by the book and take necessary steps leading to the constitution of a Delimitation Commission so that the people of Jammu province obtain in the legislative assembly representation in proportion to its total voters as also in terms of its geographical area which is not just inaccessible but also treacherous. He said the people of Jammu province have been anxiously looking for a dispensation that is state-centric as opposed to the valley-centric, but all their hopes stand belied because the so-called Jammu-based Congress party has bartered away the general political and economic rights of the people of Jammu province to keep the people of Kashmir is good humour. |
