| Anjuman holds literary meet | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 26 Anjuman Farogh-e-Urdu hold its weekly literary meeting at Danish Kadah under the chairmanship of Dr. Yousif Usmani. Rana Haidri of Aurangabad was the guest of honour secretary read out a new item that last week J&K Surya Gramin Vikas Smiti in a meeting held at Samba had impressed upon every citizen of Jammu province to learn Urdu and Dogri because Urdu is the official language of the state and Dogri is the identity of Jammu province. It was further resolved in that meeting that Urdu and Dogri should be made as compulsory subjects in the school. As per press release Anjuman appreciated the assertions of the Smiti and described it a welcome step towards the promotion of Urdu and Dogri languages. The release further say that Anjuman has noted the concern expressed by the former chief minister of the state, Dr. Farooq Abdullah towards Urdu in a book release function on November 19, wherein he had shed crocodile tears about the fate of the language in the state. Anjuman observed that he should shoulder more responsibility for this state of affairs because despite his assurances nothing has been done during his tenure as the CM. Nargis Sitara read out a story based on the present condition in the valley in the meeting and point regarding modern (Jadediat) and post-modern (Mabaad Jadediat) poetry was raised by Khurshid Kazmi. Dr. Usmani and Rana Haidri threw light on the subject. Usmani observed that the literature is affected by the changed circumstances and shall have to adapt to such circumstances. In the poetic session poets their Kalam: Khurshid Kazmi, Nisar Dehlvi, Rehmat Banihali, Rahat Hussain, Nargis Sitara, Sanohar Khan, Sibt-e-Raza, Aas Bhaderwahi, Ushaaq Kishtwari, Deepak Arsi, Amin Banihali, Rana Haidri and Yousuf Usmani. |
