| Friend turns thief; Police solves ATM cheating case | | | Early Times Reporter

Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have solved a theft case and arrested one person, who has reportedly admitted to have stolen ATM Card of his friend to take money out of his account.
An official spokesman identified the arrested accused as Gurmeet Singh son of Jaspal Singh, of Haft Chinar, who was presently residing in Jammu.
Giving details, sources said, that Sales Development Manager HDFC Satish Kumar son of Om Prakash Sharma of Sunderbani Rajouri filed a written complaint in Police Station Shergari that his Punjab National Bank ATM card has been stolen and the thief has taken out money from his account through several transactions made at different places in the city.
Based on the compliant, sources said, police registered case under section, 379 and started investigation.
During investigations, sources added, Police rounded up Gurmeet who was friend of the complainant. Satish and had specifically called him from Jammu for business and had even stayed with him in a local hotel, they said.
During the interrogation the accused admitted that he had seen his friend drawing out money from ATM and had memorized his code. Later, he stole the ATM card when his friend was sleeping in the Hotel. After that he had took out a total of Rupees 64,000 in different transactions from different ATM's across the city.
Police said it has recovered the entire stolen amount and has also recovered the destroyed ATM card from a garbage heap near Iqbal Park. |
