New Delhi | Nov 26
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has made a strong case for inclusion of Srinagar and Jammu cities in the central government's mega plan of constructing bridges, bye-passes, flyovers and ring roads in densely populated cities of the country and urged the union ministry of transport to earmark Rs. 600 crores for the purpose.
Azad, who is in the union capital pursuing development schemes for the State with Government of India, urged the ministry of transport to include Srinagar and Jammu in the scheme as a special case and keeping in with the traffic congestion on the two capital cities' roads.
The Chief Minister exuded confidence that his request for the inclusion of the State's two main cities in the country's ambitious programme and provision of funds to the tune of Rs. 600 crore would be acceded. He said construction of bridges, flyovers, bye-passes and ring roads would smoothen traffic flow on the otherwise crowded roads of the capital cities and facilitate commuters.
