| Repeat show by JeM and Huji feared | | | Early Times Special Correspodent Jammu | Nov 26 On the heel of Jaish-e-Mohammed abortive plan to kidnap All India Congress General Secretary, Young Rahul Gandhi, for keeping him hostage and demanding ransom in terms of release by the government of India of some hardcore terrorists, the security agencies here are preparing themselves for foiling another such strike by the JeM, which they have the inputs of being planned by the outfit. It has been the old modus operandi of Jaish-e-Mohammed to kidnap some VVIP or people in large numbers to be kept as hostage for demanding ransom in terms of release of hardcore terrorists lodged in Indian jails. In 2001 the brother of the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Maulvi Azhar Masood had masterminded the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight from Nepal, which was landed at Kabul and in exchange for setting free about two hundred passengers, the hijackers succeeded in getting the release of Azhar Masood and two other dreaded terrorists. Intelligent inputs and excerpts suggest that the JeM militants are hatching a similar conspiracy. "We are expecting that this time they will try to strike their target with a well designed and detailed plan and their immediate target would be some VVIPs and their kins" the intelligence sources have revealed. According to the intelligence sources these conspirators can make best of the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat and even in Himachal Pradesh. The Gujarat Chief Minister, Nariender Modi, according to these sources is on the top of the hit list of JeM terrorists, who can endeavour to kidnap him for ransom. Even some leaders in the ruling establishment in J&K as well as in the opposition, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omer Abdullah are also reported to be on the hit list of JeM. In view of these reports and inputs with the Indian intelligence agencies, they are taking no chances and personal security of all those whom the terrorists are suspected to make target of kidnapping, has been further tightened and upgraded. In the meanwhile the lawyers fraternity in Jammu has demanded tightening of security in the court premises, in view of the Huji militants having targeted court premises in three cities in UP for triggering blasts, in which 15 people are killed and 60 others wounded. At present there are no security arrangements in the court premises, where a large number of people visit daily and the lawyers feel that they are open to the attacks by militants. |
