| 300 Militants waiting to cross border | | Five big militant groups hiding on Poonch border | | Govind Chouhan & Bupinder Singh Jammu | Poonch | Nov 26 About 300 ‘A grade’ Pak-trained militants are hiding near the line of control to infiltrate into the Indian side. According to sources, Mir Hussain son of Juma resident of Salotri, who crossed the border for weapons training in 1991 was operating these militant groups and guiding them as to how to cross the border. Owing to his good work immediately after crossing the border in 1991, the militant commander appointed him as HM commander with Meerpur in Pakistan as his headquarter. Since then Hussain has been operating from there and commanding the militant groups Sources said he helped many groups to cross the border from Pakistan during the last many areas and is considered most influential militant commander. Sources said some militant groups were hiding near the line of control in Poonch district and in the nearby training camps are waiting for appropriate time to cross this side of the border preferably before the ensuing elections. According to sources about six militants groups have regrouped near the line of control in the Khori area of Pakistan and Dagwal area of India in Poonch district. Similarly, eight militants group hiding in the Madarpur area of Pakistan and Salotri area of India, twelve militants groups in Dera DC area of Pakistan and Balakote area of India, seven militants groups in the Islamabad area of Pakistan and Bandi Chachia area of India, fifteen militants groups in Kacharban area of Pakistan and Sabzia area of India. The sources said that Pakistani commander has reportedly directed Mohd Mustaq son of Mohd Rafiq resident of Kanetar and Mohd Sokat son of Ismail resident of Surankote both hardcore militants of LeT outfit to help militants in crossing the border without being noticed by the security forces. Sources said the security and Intelligence agencies have noticed some movement between Sidra to Kanetar Top area for the last some days. Sources said some time back that a group comprising three hardcore militants of LeT made an abortive attempt to cross the border but only one of them succeeded in his mission. Sources said the militants groups who crossed the border from Sabzia area were asked to go to Kashmir valley and different areas of Poonch district. Sources also revealed that some months back five hardcore militant group also crossed the border from Madana border while two of them were killed by the security forces in an operation and remaining three militants are missing since then and are reported to be hiding in Surankote area. The sources said that in the training camps set up across the border the Pakistan authorities have trained over 300 fresh recruits in the recent past in handling of sophisticated weapons especially for creating large scale disturbances during the assembly elections due next year. If the sources are to be believed small groups of militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons, ammunition and explosives, have already sneaked into the state from across Kupwara in Kashmir and Poonch and Rajouri districts in Jammu region in recent days. The reports suggest that during the current month alone nearly 50 activists of LeT have infiltrated into Kashmir from across Kupwara to step up militant activities in the state in a run up the assembly elections while several others are waiting on the borders to cross at the opportune time. |
